Think Earth Environmental Education Foundation
Approximately 900 students will learn about the marine environment, including impacts on water quality and wildlife from port-related activities (goods movement, land and water development). Students will become better stewards of the environment, especially concerning their watershed that leads directly to the ocean. This is particularly important as the Environmental Health Index for all of Wilmington and half of San Pedro, as shown in the Plan for Healthy L.A. Health Profiles, is below average in all areas. With more residents in these communities realizing the importance of keeping trash and pollution off the streets, fewer pollutants will be picked up by stormwater runoff, thus mitigating some of the ongoing impact from Port activities.
