Grand Vision
To continue to produce twelve annual free, day-time world music concerts at the Grand Annex for 350+ youth, in 4th -5th grade, from four Title I San Pedro and Wilmington schools, through which they can learn basic rhythms and tones, experience world cultural traditions through unique instruments and sounds, and have the opportunity to participate in music making via vocal and percussion engagement activities. To continue to provide 30-minute pre-world music concert lessons at four participating Title I San Pedro and Wilmington schools. To expand MTM to include 21 in-school weekly professionally taught 30-minute in-school recorder lessons, serving 90 4th grade students from 3 different Title I San Pedro and Wilmington schools. To continue to partner with the LA Opera to present an annual educational opera experience at San Pedro’s historic Warner Grand Theatre for 1,200 3rd-5th grade students from 6-8 Title I San Pedro and Wilmingtonschools, introduce students to opera and the importance of community-wide participation in arts events, and increase appreciation for historic landmarks.

Grand Vision
Recorder Lessons offering 24 weekly in-school recorder lessons for 200 4/5th. Lessons are 30-minutes and led by a professional instructor who teaches music notation through music and math exercises, and ensemble performance. Each class performs four songs, in front of their peers during an in-school assembly at the end of the school year.Roots of Music Program (RoMP). We teach an interactive three unit, 9-lesson curriculum for 800 4th graders from eight schools that introduces foundational music concepts along with cultural and scientific roots of music.

The Wilmington Teen Center provides Wilmington youth who are at-risk of gang involvement, drugs and dropping out of school a safe place to go after school where they can receive educational support, participate in fitness and leadership programs, have a safe place to hang out and learn about self-respect, respect for others and their community, and giving back to the community. Fund will be used to help support the organizational structure of the center by allowing them to hire more staff and equipment that is integral to their mission.

5th grade students are to be provided a three-day, two-night, hands-on marine biology learning experience at the Catalina Island Marine Institute (CIMI) at Toyon Bay. CIMI provides a variety of experimental marine science labs and field activities. 3rd grade students are to be provided a school year worth of activities relative to plant biology with the help of Deane Dana Nature Center, Palos Verdes Conservancy (George F. Canyon), South Coast Botanical Gardens and Vic & Bonnie Christensen Science Center. Through this program, students will be introduced to native versus cultivated environments. They will also learn the life cycle of plants through hands-on experiences.
